 Scottish Gemmological Association Conference

4th to 7th May 2012

Stuart Robertson - Cigdem Lule Student Sponsorship

A place at the conference including accommodation and meals

The SGA Conference will take place at the Queens Hotel, Perth.  It includes a high quality programme of talks on gemmology and related subjects by internationally recognized speakers, excellent workshops on the Sunday afternoon and social events.

The full programme is available here  Programme

Stuart Robertson and Cigdem Lule from Chicago will sponsor a place at the conference for a student of gemmology (preferably based in Scotland).  This is a wonderful opportunity for a student to learn from the gemmological events and benefit from social networking.

What the sponsorship covers:

The sponsorship will cover the full conference registration fee, all meals including the Dinner & Ceilidh on Saturday night, and bed and breakfast accommodation for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Who is eligible:

Preference will be given to a student resident in Scotland, who is studying for a major gemmology qualification and who might want to take an active part in the SGA.

The student may be non-professional or he/she may be working in the trade as an employee. Preference will be given to a student who is funding, or partially funding, his/her own studies.

The student should not be in receipt of any funding from any other source to attend the conference

How to apply:

An applicant should submit 150 to 200 words in support of his/her application: this submission might include personal reasons for studying gemmology and advantages which attendance at the conference might bring. If partially funded for the course, please state the level of funding received.

It is a condition of the award that the recipient will be asked to write a short report (200-500 words) on the conference for publication on the SGA website. This should include a description of the benefits derived from attending and should be submitted within 2 weeks of the end of the conference.
