The SGA
Conference will take place at the Queens Hotel, Perth. It includes a high
quality programme of talks on gemmology and related subjects by internationally
recognized speakers, excellent workshops on the Sunday afternoon and social
events.

Stuart
Robertson and Cigdem Lule from Chicago will sponsor a place at the conference
for a student of gemmology (preferably based in Scotland). This is a wonderful
opportunity for a student to learn from the gemmological events and benefit from
social networking.
What the sponsorship covers:
The sponsorship will cover the
full conference registration fee, all meals including the Dinner & Ceilidh on
Saturday night, and bed and breakfast accommodation for Friday, Saturday and
Sunday nights.
Who is eligible:
Preference will be given to a
student resident in Scotland, who is studying for a major gemmology
qualification and who might want to take an active part in the SGA.
The student may be
non-professional or he/she may be working in the trade as an employee.
Preference will be given to a student who is funding, or partially funding,
his/her own studies.
The student should not be in
receipt of any funding from any other source to attend the conference
How to apply:
An applicant should submit 150
to 200 words in support of his/her application: this submission might include
personal reasons for studying gemmology and advantages which attendance at the
conference might bring. If partially funded for the course, please state the
level of funding received.
It is a condition of the award
that the recipient will be asked to write a short report (200-500 words) on the
conference for publication on the SGA website. This should include a description
of the benefits derived from attending and should be submitted within 2 weeks of
the end of the conference.
